However, despite the elements, the Lions looked like the team more accustomed to playing outdoors.
The Packers, meanwhile, seemed rattled, especially in the first half. They missed several key opportunities to take control of the game, and their mistakes proved costly. Jordan Love, in particular, struggled with inconsistency. Despite posting 273 passing yards, Love threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown—essentially handing Detroit a 10-point swing before halftime.
Despite a few key injuries, the Lions continued to show their depth and resilience. One of the most notable moments of the game came when safety Brian Branch was ejected for a controversial helmet-to-helmet hit on Packers wide receiver Bo Melton. While some felt the ejection was harsh, it demonstrated just how important a player Branch is to the Lions’ defense.

Green Bay was inside the Lions’ 35-yard line three times without scoring a touchdown, settling for field goals instead.
The Packers also missed a key field goal attempt, and that critical turnover from Jordan Love before halftime—leading to a pick-six—made it even harder for Green Bay to recover. As Head Coach Matt LaFleur said after the game, “We played a clean game, much cleaner than they did.” But that wasn’t enough; the Packers failed to take advantage of the Lions’ few mistakes.
For Jordan Love, this game was a tough one. The interception he threw just before halftime was a costly mistake, and his overall play lacked the composure we’ve seen from him at times this season. While Love had flashes of promise—especially in the second half—he’s still growing into the role of starting quarterback, and this game showed that he still has a ways to go before he can lead the Packers consistently in high-pressure situations.
After the game, Love expressed frustration with the interception, admitting he didn’t see the defender. It’s clear that Love’s decision-making needs to improve, especially in critical moments.
