Myles Garrett Trade Destinations
By Matt Quinn
On Monday, Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, the face of the franchise, requested a trade. The defending Defensive Player of the Year saw yet another productive season fall by the wayside as the Browns struggled to get anything going all season, even before the Deshaun Watson injury. The Browns have been in a perpetual pit of misery for several decades and aside from a year or two of some competitive playoff football, they have been largely irrelevant for most of Garrett’s eight seasons. Myles Garrett released a statement Monday expressing his gratitude and love for the city of Cleveland and their fans, but noted his desire to win as being the reason why he wants to move on. Obviously once this news broke, speculation began as to where he might end up before the start of the 2025/26 NFL season. With that in mind, here are a few spots that he could wind up in come next season in no particular order.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills are coming off of yet another heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs in the playoffs. Though Josh Allen was tremendous throughout the entire season, it’s fair to wonder what could have been had a guy like Myles Garrett been on the roster. The Bills tried to bolster their pass rush a few years ago when they went and got Von Miller from the Broncos. Though he has had some good games in Buffalo, he hasn’t really given much of a return on that investment. Adding Myles Garrett could be the missing piece they’ve been searching for to finally get this team over the hump.
Denver Broncos
Speaking of the Broncos, this would be an interesting spot for Garrett. He would insert himself into an already talented young defense. One that was near the top of the league in sacks this past year. With Bo Nix a year older in Sean Payton’s system, their offense could be better depending on what they do in the draft and free agency. That could be an enticing place for Myles to end up in. A young team with a good defense that, with his addition, could be a great defense and could give the Chiefs more fits than they’re comfortable with.
Kansas City Chiefs
I know nobody wants to see the team going for a three-peat to potentially get even better the next season but you can’t rule this kind of move out. The Chiefs defense would be almost unfair up front. Pair Myles Garrett with Chris Jones and you’re looking at potentially the best defensive line in football. The main reason why you can’t rule this move out is because Garrett has made it clear he wants to go to a contender so he can win a Super Bowl. The Chiefs would not be afraid to figure out a way to grab him and if the price is right, in what world does Myles Garrett say no to that?
Washington Commanders
This is one of the more intriguing potential landing spots. The Commanders are on a high right now. They have an electric young QB who gained some much needed experience this year in the playoffs paired with some quality playmakers on offense. With a defensive minded head coach in Dan Quinn, not to mention a ton of cap space, the Commanders could bring in Garrett and still be able to improve other parts of the defense. The Commanders were an upstart team last year that many predicted would finish with around 5-7 wins on the year but ended up on the cusp of a Super Bowl berth. Adding Myles Garrett would take them to legit contender status in the NFC and it’s very possible it could happen but only time will tell.
